Seventh annual Artsfest
The purpose of Artsfest is to showcase and celebrate the artistic achievements of Shelby County Schools’ students and to encourage, promote, and support Arts education in the Memphis community. Artsfest includes Visual Art displays, as well as Theatre, Dance, Vocal and Instrumental musical performances and Orff music representing exemplary programs across the SCS district. Hickory Ridge Elementary had ten students’ art displayed at Artsfest this year.
2015 SCS holiday card contest
K-12 students from around the district created holiday card designed for the SCS Holiday Card Contest. For those entries, four lucky student’s card designs will be chosen to serve as the holiday card design for distinct members of the board. Our school was lucky enough to have two winners.

2014 Fire Safety Poster Contest
Students from 1st-3rd grade were chosen, based on their artistic abilities to participate in The Insurors of Memphis, Memphis Fire Services, and the Fire Museum of Memphis annual Fire Safety Poster Contest. Every year this contest is held to give students an opportunity to compete for cash prizes and exhibit their artistic talents. This years theme for the contest was called, “FIRE DRILLS: The Great Escape!” This has been an ongoing theme for the past several years. This theme is so important because, even though children practice fire drills at school, most fires occur in the home. Students were asked to demonstrate, in their poster, how to escape from their home if they should have a fire.
